Mr. Zhao, graduated from International Law Department of East China University of Politics and Law with bachelor degree in international economic law in 1997, has passed the bar exam of China with high scores, and obtained the Lawyer License in 1998 (License No.: 1310119********47).
Before establishing Leezhao Law Office in 2005, Mr. Zhao had been working in a large comprehensive law office in Shanghai which focuses on legal services on foreign affairs. As an elite of such a law office, he undertook many important positions at the headquarter, including the head of a law department, the head of the information and quality inspection department.
Mr. Zhao has served hundreds of multinational corporations and foreign-invested enterprises with the background of Japan, Europe and America, South Korea, with the industry engaged in household appliances, electronic components, pharmaceuticals, communication device, financial service, commerce & trade, warehousing & logistics, semi-conductor equipment, paper making, etc. The practice areas include investment, M&A, capital reorganization, corporation, commerce, real estate, construction contracting, technique license, PL(product liability), international commercial loan, antitrust, anti-unfair competition, voluntary liquidation, bankruptcy, guarantee, laboring and so on.
Thoughtful and familiar with legal practices, Mr. Zhao accumulated abundant working experience and skills. The typical legal affairs of Mr. Zhao are as follows: acting for foreign corporations to establish dozens of large and medium-scaled foreign invested enterprises in Shanghai, Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province, etc., by means of FDI or M&A; offering legal services for many multinational corporations on their business reorganization, merger or consolidation in China, on building up the operation system and integrating the sale system; acting as the counsel in the whole process to successfully resolve the litigation in which seven foreign financial institutions initiated the bankruptcy proceedings against the Pacific Leasing Limited Company; served as the permanent counsel for a multinational company of a paper-pulp integrated corporation established in China with a total investment of approximately two billion US dollars; providing professional legal service for famous Japanese companies engaging in appliance and automobile on the disputes arising from product liability in China; perfecting the labor personnel management system for several Fortune 500 companies and having long been responsible for settling their complicated labor disputes properly; helping several large-scaled corporation groups responding to various investigations launched by the government authorities including AIC, Customs, Public Security, CSRC etc.; successfully recycling large debts for banks, companies in troubles for several times; assisting related institutions in the legal practices of the financial market in China such as due diligent, legal opinion, investment and mergers, etc.
Mr. Zhao has pre-dominated the establishment of systematical working procedures suitable for the law office, which includes the electrical operation system, the operation procedure for business, the ISO9001 quality management system, etc. Mr. Zhao published considerable papers home and abroad, concerning foreign investment and other issues. The academic lectures held by Mr. Zhao for foreign invested enterprises are highly evaluated. Under the entrustment by several government-backed institutions, Mr. Zhao has joined the programs of in-depth investigations many times in the fields such as the protection of intellectual property rights in China, administrative formalities and trading guides, and made corresponding reports. Mr. Zhao has also directed his team to compile a book named Legal Manual on Business Disputes of the Japanese Invested Enterprises in China, which is highly commended by foreign invested enterprises.
Mr. Zhao has been awarded with numerous honors, such as, in 1999, the Outstanding Debater for the First Debate Contest of Lawyers in Shanghai; in 2004, the Top Ten Young Lawyer in Pudong Shanghai; in 2005, the Outstanding Non-litigation Lawyer in Shanghai (nine awardees, and Mr. Zhao is the youngest awardee so far.) as granted by Shanghai Bar Association. Mr. Zhao is the representative of the 9th (from 2011 to 2015), the 10th (from 2015 to 2019), the 11th (from 2019 to 2023), and the 12th (from 2023 to 2027) Shanghai Lawyer Congress and the commissioner of the Committee of Publicity of Shanghai Bar Association.
